Dr. Tayibah Bemiah began her career in 2002 when she graduated from Lincoln University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Her educational training at Lincoln University prepared her with the knowledge, skills and capabilities that she needed to be hired as a Special Education teacher. Dr. Bemiah continued her studies and obtained a graduate degree in Special Education.
Through multiple assignments in schools throughout Philadelphia, Dr. Bemiah encountered many students that suffered from trauma and untreated mental health challenges. Dr. Bemiah’s experiences with traumatized youth, coupled with her dedication and commitment to under-served families led her to pursue an additional graduate degree in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology from Immaculata University. Upon the successful completion of this degree, Dr. Bemiah was hired as a School Psychologist, diagnosing, identifying and providing recommendations to various school teams throughout the city to help effectively educate students that struggled with learning disabilities and mental health issues. Dr. Bemiah worked as a mobile therapist for individuals experiencing trauma, depression and anxiety. She also worked with couples and families providing psychoeducation and therapeutic support to parents attending court ordered parenting classes. Dr. Bemiah realized to be truly impactful she would have to turn her attention to educating prospective educators that will encounter students that will struggle academically, emotionally and behaviorally, this led her to obtain a Doctorate Degree in Educational Administration with a Concentration in Special Education from Gwynedd Mercy University. In addition to her educational experiences, she has also obtained permanent certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education in Elementary Education, Special Education, Middle Years English, and School Psychology. Dr. Bemiah is also a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania.
